Forever flowing like a dolphin fast and free

She was tall, she was handsome, topsails gold and glowing,
Flowing like a dolphin fast and free.
And they called her the Sunrise, she brought good weather with her,
The fairest Yankee beauty that ever sailed the sea.

Now she's gone down the river, she's gone, gone, forever, oh the classic Yankee clipper is gone.

It was a dream to sail on her, to feel the breeze upon you,
To feel her responding to the wheel,
To taste the salt spray on you as you plow through the water,
That same way again I know I'll never feel.

Though sometimes in hard weather we had tough times together,
oh, me and the Yankee beauty of my dreams.
For like the wind she was contrary and I had to be wary,
But then all leaders are like that so it seems.
